Nfs Open 2007 |

Yeaaah... very strange topic!
Just an idea and you all are the first i ask:
what do you think of a kind of revival of the nfs open? not that huge like 2004, i just thought of another "turneysystem" that brings more fun especially to those who have simply that in mind: having fun in hp2 for a very limited time, like two weeks.
suggestion:
the winner could be the one who skips the most positions in a certain asaclist (e.g. Hall of fame class1) by driving new pbs on one certain server. i could host that one. nowadays, bandwidth and latencies shouldnt be a problem for us anymore. It will pretty impossible for Mark, George, Ryan, Dennis and many other quick racers to win the open this year. Neither for me. But we could reach many more ppl to compete and will have more fun and tension, i hope. I think this and having full servers is much more important than having the same couple of quick guys winning.
what do you think?

Let's all use ventrillo! Gluttony will host the vent server; he has around 5 or 6 mbit upload! He can also host the game too!

I can host as well, so we can use two servers at least ( maybe in change to hold down power consumption? ). I tried last night, everything seemed to work alright besides keeping the car on the track...
What do you think about the tourney's "system"? A Sac is still there, working fine.. other suggestions?

ASac is the best way, but we're gonna have to use new names. i know that both the accounts i used to use don't let me log in anymore...i know cause i wanted to get that last track in a while ago and it wouldn't upload
but i vote for TeamSpeak cause ventrilo sucks big floppy donkeydix, and i don't mind hosting either, i got 2 mbit upload which is way more then HP2 needs......so george can host like 4 servers

@Norm: Have you tried contacting Nye? Maybe he can help you out.
If we all use new names, the quicker have advantages, because they will have no problems with raising from zero to positions below number 100 in A Sac.
Basically i don't mind at all, HOW we do it, i just want to make sure ppl have fun and have the opportunity to win (esp. for the slower ones).

Hi and sorry buds,
i have given up with the open. unfortunately, but necessarily imho for several reasons: there was too few feedback on the one hand. on the other, i have too many private or job-related "competetions". comparing work and effort i have come to the conclusion that it won't make not much sense to organize the open for like 8 racers.
SOC is pretty inactive at present, most of the "ancients" have quit racing/gaming. i actually don not know, how or if the SOC-story continues. this i basically no reason to stop the open but it makes it harder since i have been hoping on support from my mates.
nevertheless: if you/others do not agree with cancelling the open and feel like the open have to start now/later, i'll be with you and help where i can.
have a nice day all!
Marc
